9 day fortnight?

Can anyone explain how it works on town or rural delivery? Is it known as the Hereford system? (Please tell me I didn't dream that! )
Anyone like them? Advantages?

The downside that no one on either side likes to talk about is that just like the 4 day week...it will cost in full-time equivalent jobs.
It is only my opinion but i would only recommended it in offices that are already carrying a high level of part-timers and vacancies.

It will have somewhere down the line,probably in vacancies not being filled.
It stands to reason,the longer your working day the more you have to fill it with work.
Outdoor would be ideal because it limits the damage but spans are limited between last wave arrival times and last letter times.
There is obviously also a limit to how much you can ask someone to do outdoors.
That leaves indoor work and filling your day up with indoor work costs full-time jobs unless you have an MPU on site which gives you more flexibility or hybrid delivery-collections.

We are about 40/60 Ft Pt
We are due to have our mail much later so any 4 day weeks will be scrapped so are looking for something better than 5 day 1 in 6 Saturdays off

Depending on the contracted hours of your part-timers you could move some of them on to a 3 day week and have a 5 day week with 1 in 4 saturdays for your full-timers and 3 day week part-timers.

4 week rotations full-time working a five day week.

Some of us are now doing 3 week on 1 off. We do a 52 hour week which is mostly just under 9 hour days. This means a full timer covers our week off so it protects FT jobs that way. The 1 week off every 4 weeks is awesome when cleverly matched with annual leave it feels like you are hardly at work

No there is no longer a limit - apparently delivery spans are now an enabler.

Correct they are an enabler.

Unfortunately our last wave of mail arrives very early and coupled with last letter times post revision still gives 5h30m ish for rurals and 4h30ish town spans inc manual intervention.

But lucky for us we've managed an early start time too.



The days of 4am starts have gone and being out delivering at 615 (good old days)
