what is the latest agreement on drivers agreed by bob gibson

have seen an agreement about drivers having to maintain there own vans,replacement mirrors,winderwipers,bulbs,tyres,+a few other things.it has been trailed in a few areas.does anyone know anything on this or seen the agreement today.i will put up my concerns later but would like to know from other drivers how they feel about this.

The problem with Pilot Schemes is that they tend to be co-opted nationwide without any real detailed evaluation - a bit like the wandering up and down the street to get rid of a packet

its a shame some of the pilot offices drivers have not say much(west london dc,bedford,halifax,kilmarnock,bridport.
to name a few.
first of all i dont like the way our union sign up to these agreements without letting the country know whats going on.
yes some offices have had a trail but the drivers dont seen to be excited to much by this responce.

problems i can see.
will this affect the mechanics dutys in anyway in the future,
how long will we wait for parts to be sent to our offices.
changing wheels is a big NO ! NO!.THIS IS NOT DOWN TO ANY DRIVER IN ANY OFFICE A MECHANIC ONLY.
WIDERWIPERS,MIRRORS,OR CHANGING A BULB CAN BE DONE.
and what would happen if there was an accident due to one of these minor faults who would be blamed.
is for being paid does b.gibson have a look at this site and see the problems staff have in getting overtime paid.
every day managers push more onto phg,s and drivers to put the burden off them and now the union are doing it.
if this does happen will all 318,s be changed in the country for acting mechanics or as required.

all drivers should vote on this agreement as a national agreement not just a couple of offices.
a warning to this union drivers have been stiched up over the last few years and i know for a fact
that it will not be long that this union could lose the drivers to another union due to the way drivers have
been used in the last few years. now i,m late for work.

Members of USDAW at the Sainsbury's distribution centre in Sherburn-in-Elmet, Leeds (operated by Wincanton), have rebelled by defecting to another union - Unite.

In less than four weeks, over 150 union members in the transport department (HGV Drivers etc.) have freely and without any influence from Unite, chosen to cancel their membership with USDAW and transfer to Unite.

Following a number of recent incidents whereby USDAW ignored member concerns which included an 80-signature vote of no confidence in USDAW. Concerns also included ballot fixing allegations, union reps being removed for spurious reasons, and a union rep being
appointed without a ballot.

In 2009 when the discussions went on I contacted Unite with regards to having our entire office transfer to them and I have to say that they weren't all that keen at the time but who knows now? Would RM recognise Unite as a negotiator or would they have to put their members case through the CWU?

Not on a national collective bargaining sense,this would still be done by the CWU,
Locally it would depend on whether there was still a significant CWU presence in the workplace.
If you had a 100% conversion rate local managers would be forced to either deal with any locally elected representative of the office or refuse to deal at all.
Which way they would jump bearing in mind you would be an office in isolation,at least to start with would be anybody's guess.

Well of course that was more than 3 years ago ft - now it's a trial in itself to get them to join the CWU
