Vaguely remember having a one to one with a line manager three or four years ago, about my personal development and what I wanted out of the company, i.e. full time hours etc.

Someone mentioned to me that this 'one on one' interview should be done once a year? Anyone shed any light on this?

Managers get these every six months from their line managers. I don't think OPGs or any other CWU grades get them at all

ETG's are CWU grades and get them every year.

Would be pretty quick for them though - "please sir can I have a new screwdriver and spanner and a full instruction book on which way round they go".

Every OPG used to have these in the day carried out by a line manager and endorsed by the DOM but they haven't been in operation for years certainly more than 10 years and perhaps a little bit longer in my case

Well bob they must have thought you had no expectations or prospects I don't know how widespread it was but I'm pretty certain it was RM policy at one point............having had one with a new line manager and feeding him a load of bullshit, the DOM refused to sign it off and called me into the office to say I would no longer be required to have personal development one to ones.

Ah I see, you use the handle of the screwdriver to knock the screws in if the instruction manual is missing - it must be wonderful to be technically trained, how I envy you

It may come as surprise to you tman but chimps actually use tools. Are you ex navy? Pongo was a slang term for soldiers by sailors, I was a soldier my brother a sailor.
