yeh it is a reasonable request and part of your contract.

best way to not be asked though is to get to your parent office on time and get them to take you to the other office, then make sure you leave the other office early to get back to your parent office on your finish time.

Exactly.
Its not such a bad thing.. depending on where the other office is you can spend half the time travelling to and from offices. Just make sure you say you want to finish on time!!

and if you have to make your own way there, leave your DO at your start time, leave the other DO to get back for your finish time and CLAIM MILEAGE ALLOWANCE.

Had a dim once that asked me to work elsewhere for a week, he wanted me to get there at my normal start time and finish there as usual and not get any petrol money etc.

I told him to stick it and thats what he did.

Yeah I did exactly this! Was ok really the manager even bought me a coffee

It should be volunteers first,then reserves.
The exact method of implementation should be agreed locally inside the national framework of pay & mod.
It should not be the same people all the time unless they volunteer.

I was recruited for a delivery office in the South, when i turned up on my first day the DOM was not aware of me starting and did not have any vacancies

Since then i have been offloaded to several other offices in the South

My question is are they allowed to do this, i know your contract states that you may therefore be required to work at any other work location of royal mail group but surely this should be the exception rather than the norm.

I am not sure how much i can take of turning up at one location, being told to go to another, no
t knowing people, walks areas etc

as has been said reserves then volunteers. if no reserves or volunteers then no go. we have a local agreement which is pinned to CWU board outlining this. dom tried this on one day when I was out of the DO. (I am cwu rep). he and other dom threatened postie with discilpinary until this was pointed out next day.
