My DOM is giving us all IPS sorting tests AGAIN to find out who the speed sorters are over 1 minute with no boards above showing what number the road walks are,
He wants all the speedsorters to throw off the IPS whilst the not so fast sorters to throw off the speedsorters frames
anyone else had this ??
The speed sorters as the DOM calls them will only slow down after a while of constantly sorting anyway and they are not happy with this situation .

There's talk of these tests at our office. Pointless really as we all know who the best sorters are

As I said to the DOM, the best sorters are the ones that have done lots of rounds, you cant expect a 32 hour a week parttimer who has only done maybe 2 rounds to be the same speed as an experienced fulltimer

And once the revision is in you lose a lot of accumulated knowledge with walk boundaries being redrawn
This company we slave for, gets dafter by the day.
Why not go back to how the service was prior to SDD, it wasn't perfect, but it was a damn sight better than it is now.
Give people rounds that are too big, cut staffing levels to the bone, and chaos will reign supreme, and no amount of jiggery-pokery will change that.
Ahhh the dedicated sorters. The chosen 5 or 6 spend all morning on IPS whilst the rest of us mere mortals porter the mail around or throw in walks. My question is are the dedicated sorters only allowed annual leave as long as the other 5 are not (which doesnt seem fair) and when all the mere mortals forget the IPS as they dont do it anymore what happens if a couple of the dedicated sorters are off sick or even leave the business.
We had the super sorters system for a couple of hours when our P&L system went in, then it was all hands to the pump to help stop the ship sinking, its still down there somewhere between the Belgrano and the Titanic.

we're trying this at the moment. it's s**t. they may be the quickest but it rarely ends up at the right frame.
we have a fella transferred to us recently (new to the area not just the office) he's only done a couple of walks in the office but he's now one of these speed sorters.
I watched him once , he was getting through it really fast - didn't even waste precious seconds reading the addresses

it already happens when they are off ill or on holiday .
Funny thing is that for the 3rd time in a year they are changing all the walks again due to loads of cutoffs since P/L .
This time adding some more to the runners rounds
If I was a speed sorter, I will be reluctant to have the not-so-speedy or not-so-accurate sorters throwing out for me. I like to throw out my own walk and make my own mistakes, if any, thank you!

Exactly, and there in lies half the problem. Somebody else throwing in your walk will not take as much care and will not be as thorough as they would if it was their own walk.
