Odd days leave and the booking of?

Most of us are owed odd days leave accrued from B/Hols etc, some have been rolled over from last year. Been told that the leave list is full which it is so no odd days can be booked this year or next!
So what happens now? Can I insist on time off? Insist on being paid? How many days can you gather and how long before using them?
Anyone got the chapter and verse on this?

The Way Forward mentions not carrying more than 5 days over into the next year.
Make sure every request for a day off is on paper and the response is on paper as well.
If it becomes impossible to find a mutually satisfactory solution then use the grievance procedure.
If the problem is widespread in the office - i.e. there is more outstanding leave than the DOM says the unit can accommodate then get your rep to escalate it to Area level.

Wow! I'm owed 7 days, one lad over10! Everyone is owed some time.
If there's no space on the leave list then they have to use overtime to cover it? P'raps that's why they are so reluctant!
Is payment an option tho?

Payment is not an option.
However you are right that budgetary considerations are more important than allocating annual leave.

If you can't get the time off due to work, make deal with colleagues to swap day off, but this won't solve the problem for annual leave but you can get the day free needed. Be creative and get to know people habits and interests ie if you need a monday off and you could ask a friend who is football fan to swap day off ie Saturday.

Its outrageous the way they treat odd days, I have only had a handful granted when I wanted them in over 20 years service, and its getting worse.
Its like going to the bank for a withdrawal and them saying Sorry we don`t have any money at the moment, come back in 6 months!

Problem is Royal Mail had made too many cut which means there are fewer staff to do the duty and fewer staff to cover for holidays.

Surely that's their problem not mine? I am owed leave simple as that, I'm not asking for a favour it's my time. How long will it rollover? Until we are privatised and lost!

The amount of leave slots per week 'should roughly' be,the amount of staff/duties in the office,times by 6 weeks(which is the max amount everyone could be entitled to),divided by 48/49/50 which depends on your xmas pressure weeks.

EG:My office...

35 x 6 =210 / 50 = 4.2 so we have 4 slots every week.

I never understand this holiday stitch up thing in other offices.
