Most senior leave reserve

Hi, I am currently the most senior leave reserve and have been for past 3 years, until recently I had first choice on which round I wanted to choose but now every week the Lino holds walks back for me to choose and the others are picking before me. After many arguments he just shrugs he's shoulders and says to get on with it. We are currently under going a revision and are a 5 day week 6-2.

I am sure I've seen something similar on this site before but can't find topic. Your help on the matter and what the "rules" are would be much appreciated.

I don't think there are any rules.
In some places the allocation of reserve duties is done by seniority.
In others it isn't.

Ask your rep to bring it up.
If the custom in your DO was to use seniority, then maybe they'll bring it back.

If seniority is used how does that allow every reserve to have their fair share of Saturdays off?

We all get our 1 in 6 Saturdays off there is only 4 of us one reserve does packets and driving duties and picks he's days off most of the time and the other is a mate so we always sort each other out and the other is a teachers pet and least senior and has now as it seems been given first choice each week. It's frustrating and unfair I've told the union rep in office but he seems totally uninterested. Thanks for the reply.

Ask your rep to bring it up.

would this come under custom and practice, Mrjones84 has been choosing for 3yrs it seems then suddenly it stops with no explanation, well it has
been going on long enough to be the custom and the done thing so it should continue.
I would see your rep asap get him to see why first of all that it changed then ask for it resume if negative reply put in a disagreement under custom & practice.

I transferred offices around 5 months ago. I have 14 years service but am a leave reserve because of my transfer which I I have no qualms about. My issues are that:
1) I have had 1 Saturday off in that time.
2) I am often required to perform a HCT duty without any assistance - by assistance I mean directions to 1st delivery point (I have zero local knowledge), access codes to flats, position of bag boxes for extra bags etc
3) When put on a new duty, I am expected to prepare the duty as quickly as the duty holder.

I have challenged the line managers about these points but all I get back from them is 'but you're an experienced postman'. I do have suggestions to combat these issues but there is no interest from management! Life as a leave reserve can be bloody frustrating!!!!

Under the new agreement any clashes in leave cannot be sorted out by seniority. In short, you've had it all your way for long enough, now you have to do battle like the rest of us, now grow a pair!
