INTRODUCING THE IWT FOR DELIVERY REPS

The Outdoor and Education & Training Departments have jointly developed an innovative online learning resource specifically for CWU Delivery Reps and in particular for new reps. The Indoor Workload Tool has been chosen because of its important role in the revision process, for performance reporting, determining the workload in choosing your model week, and as a forecasting tool during weekly resourcing meetings. The resource is in four video sections, accompanied by relevant downloadable resources.

In the next week you will receive an email from the Education & Training Dept via Wikispaces. Simply click on the link in the email. As this is a password protected site it will take a couple of seconds for you to set up an ID. It is a simple process - and it only needs to be done once. Once you click on the link you will be asked to create a username and password. Please make a note of these for future use.

Once you have entered your username and password you will see your personal landing page. It will show you the wiki you have been invited to join - in this instance CWULeftClick. Click on that and you will have entered the site.

On the home page click on the green "Postal" box in the middle of the page. Once on the Postal page you will see a list of courses, click on "An Introduction to the IWT" and follow the instructions.

We have piloted the site and made adjustments in the light of reps feedback - but this is still the early stages of a new project so there will be some things that need to be improved and maybe the occasional technical glitch. Please bear with us and let us know if you encounter any problems or have ideas as to how the project can be improved.

Is it going to explain to us why it was ever agreed? Lets be totally honest, the IWT is crippling deliveries and what is left of indoor o/t and leaves reps in a very bad position having to explain where all the o/t has gone to the members. Yes it can put hours back in the office but this "plus" is massively outweighed by what it takes out.

The hilarious thing is since it was agreed...it's never actually been agreed for long because every time we get to a position where we agree to it they pick up the goalposts and run another 50 yards down the road with another version.

Including even now with it's latest full fat 100BSI Version 7.4 (unagreed)
It was a dangerous tool to start with and Royal Mail have played us for mugs by slowly increasing it's danger over the last 3 years.
Now it's deadly and in it's present form even before this latest add on it would never have been accepted so the question is why do we continue to support it?

Why do we, sorry Bob Gibson, continue to support any kind of work tool that the cwu and Royal Mail have to support delivery operations, because as Fish says Royal Mail will stretch and stretch the boundaries to create savings where there are no further savings to extricate. Every agreement ever made has no borders as far as Royal Mail are concerned. Get your act together Bob and stop all meetings with your buddies at Royal Mail, and start representing the people that pay your wages.

While the CWU at headquarters remain weak, local Reps (or some) remain weak and the members continue to to be weak, rush round, come in early and cut corners so they don;t have to face the bullying from Dom's, then I'm afraid Royal Mail will continue to push boundaries.
