Compassionate leave question

Rather ask the question on here rather than ask my DOM.
My father in law died when I was on my last weeks holiday last week and the question I am asking is, the funeral is the week after next and as I wont be able to work that day will it be classed as compassionate leave?
Will it be paid ?
If not will it be unpaid leave as I have no holiday left?

Bereavement:
The special leave policy allows for up to one week with pay for the death of next of kin and blood relative, (spouse or civil partner, child, parent, sibling) and one day with pay for parent in law (or the equivalent in a civil partnership or longstanding unmarried relationship), or grandparent.

I had the same problem twice in a fortnight !! I just asked if my days off could be swapped round and they did.... can you do that?

could you tell me if it is up to your office dom whether you get paid for a inlaws funeral. my dom said i could take it as 1 days leave or special leave c unpaid.

he refused to give me special leave a. my line managers both agreed with him.

I believe it is yes. You only get paid leave for immediate family like a spouse, mother/father, son/daughter.

The policy document says for internment of ashes - which is the closest to a funeral I can find

If as part of arranging funeral then Special Leave A is applicable. If not then Unpaid or Annual Leave should be taken.
