Refusing to deliver certain D2D's
In our range of D2D's next week there is a leaflet I am being asked to deliver that I totally disagree with, it's about the great controversy ( or something like that) and is basically a bilble punching effort.
Now don't get me wrong, if people want imaginary friends, they can have them, I just don't believe in the single God stuff that is pumped out, so I am probably what you would call pagan.
These leaflets go against my beliefs and I don't see why I should have to promote some thing I have no belief in.

Re: Refusing to deliver certain D2D's
I had a debate with my manager about a leaflet and he told me I had to deliver it. I said I do not need to, I can choose to leave, he just walked away at that point. You have a choice but every action has a consequence. Pagan "a person holding religious beliefs other than those of the main world religions" so what are you are implying about your religion with their religion, they are wrong?Lateagainpostie wrote:In our range of D2D's next week there is a leaflet I am being asked to deliver that I totally disagree with, it's about the great controversy ( or something like that) and is basically a bilble punching effort.

I wonder whether he is a non-believer rather than a pagan? An agnostic or atheist, perhaps.
Anyway, you are not personally promoting any form of ideas or goods or services as per the d2ds that you are asked to deliver. I doubt any customer will personally associate the humble postie with the d2ds/direct markerting and rubbish spam that we have to deliver?
The same goes for political leaflets. Just deliver and move on! GL

Not agreeing with something is not a valid reason in itself to refuse to deliver it,you are not being asked to promote or endorse this leaflet just as you aren't endorsing the Virgin Media leaflet either.Lateagainpostie wrote:These leaflets go against my beliefs and I don't see why I should have to promote some thing I have no belief in.
The usual reason to invoke the "conscience clause" is safety,in the case of BNP leaflets we have documented evidence of members being threatened, chased and spat at for delivering these leaflets.
On the plus side,if that's your thing The Great Controversy is a "teaching" of the Seventh-day Adventist movement which believes that Saturday is actually the Sabbath so they are on the side of the Mon-Fri argument.
Other than that and the usual homophobia it appears to be no more dangerous than any other religion/cult.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

Re: Refusing to deliver certain D2D's
If its the same as the leaflets and books that they had in the USA then its not a bible punching effort, its the writings of a adventist and has been condemned in some quarters as either anti-catholic or anti protestant - its claims there is a conspiracy in some parts of the church to keep the truth about Satan and Jesus hiddenLateagainpostie wrote:In our range of D2D's next week there is a leaflet I am being asked to deliver that I totally disagree with, it's about the great controversy ( or something like that) and is basically a bilble punching effort.
From the little I can glean about paganism the most the book says its that Catholic religion is based on Paganism as in their view wrong.Lateagainpostie wrote:Now don't get me wrong, if people want imaginary friends, they can have them, I just don't believe in the single God stuff that is pumped out, so I am probably what you would call pagan.
You can't refuse to deliver election material because they go against your beliefs, only if they are offensive to them - you would need to be able to demonstrate that the literature was offensive to your beliefs - which after my brief read would seem to be a case for Catholics rather than Paganists.Lateagainpostie wrote:These leaflets go against my beliefs and I don't see why I should have to promote some thing I have no belief in.
You could go for the personal risk angle, but I couldn't see that sticking as most people wouldn't even have heard of the "Great Controversy" so are unlikely to get angry or upset about it.‘conscience clause’ which allows a delivery person the right to refuse to deliver election material, if the material they are delivering, is considered to be offensive due to personal circumstances or beliefs or where an individual believes that delivery of a particular item may incur personal risk.
However, the biggest impediment to you refusing to deliver it is that its not election material its from what I can gather a mailing telling people who might be interested in a Free book how they can get hold of it, at most it might have extracts from the book.

I'm Anti-food leaflets. They encourage people to over eat and get fat. Can I refuse to deliver pizza/supermarket leaflets?
Union what Union? Do we have a union?
