Sick child

Hi, I am looking for info, had to take today off as my son was ill during the night, tried phoning work from 5.50 am, eventually at 6.30 am i left a text message, nobody answers the direct line so phoning mobile is the only way, I changed my phone in November and didnt realise that the number I had was an old number, anyway got a phone call from dom at 7.19 am to see if i was on my way in< was quite angry that I had not managed to get to him, explained the situation, after some bullying tactics (do they take training in this?) I had no-one to look after my son, I am married but being a second marriage he is my son, also husband had already left for work, managed to get cover tomorrow< but where do i stand tomorrow when my son at present still continues to be sick?

Just don't go in,Phone to tell them in the night/morning.
Whatever 'punishment' you get ( unpaid or 2 days deducted from leave ) just accept it and don't worry,no other company would make you worry about it this much!

Thanks for reply< not of an age where he can be left alone, still got 6 days left from this year but cant give me holidays in May when I want them either, so I suppose can be used up other ways

Family must come first the business second if he the DOM keeps harassing you see your rep. All the best by the way

thank you for repies, I told dom that i would be in in the morning but they things are going we are going to end up at the hospital, not looking forward to the conversation then!

hope everythings ok with child. had same problem a few yrs ago had to use own leave for 9 days despite promises from cwu that you are entitled to at least 2 days paid

This the problem with RM cutting everything to the bone. No cover for genuine emergencies, hence the guilt trip to make you come in. Stand up for yourself, get the rep involved. Hope your child gets better soon.

Agree with the reply, my walk takes me till over 3 pm most days< when i used to get finished about 2pm on old walk. They are not interested when i am not going to be home for my son at 3 pm. All i get is how come my husband cant look after him, they dont seem to understand that I have a son with adhd and when it comes to being unwell, well stepdads is not what they want. Thought Royal Mail were trying to be Family friendly?
