Now call me biased but these have got to be a better option than all those silly little vans that RM cram two walks into and believe that they are 'more efficient'.

At only 1000 Euros each (retail, probably cheaper in bulk) it could mean a return to lone working which I think most Posties prefer.

Obviously not suitable for every walk, but most town routes would be OK I'd have thought.

And they'd need mechanics to service them. (I'm available now, reasonable rates!)

Great looking machine. Could flog ice cream as a side line during the summer, and hot dogs with a mug of tea in the winter.

I would prefer going back from P/L to working alone but you would need a locking top on the bike plus with most rounds having 8+ bags you would need to go back to a driver doing drop bags 3 or 4 times a round as a lot of places are refused by councils to have pouch drop boxes.

Simple, just add a battery run motor to aid pedalling. Totally takes weight off the shoulder, and back, cheap to operate, less polluting and totally dismissed by Royal Mail and the CWU without any consultation with the people who work on the front line.

Electric assist trike, 1700euros, 40km range, 7 speed gears, up to 100kg load in front and 80kg on rear rack. Add a lockable lid to the cargo area and you have a HCT that you can fully exploit the park and loop concept with.

No road tax, no diesel, recharges in 4 hours for the cost of pennies.

Too radical for RM perhaps?
