I booked my annual leave months ago with our DOM at the time. It was to start this Saturday and run for 2 weeks. The original DOM has left and a new DOM has taken over. This weeks rota went up and new DOM has put me down as in on Saturday. I asked him about it, and was basically told "if old DOM doesn't remember I have to work it"
Can he do this? I requested all my holidays in the correct manner on a holiday request form.
This week I'm covering for someone else who's on holiday, I have a 24 hour contract but the van share requires someone in at 7 to throw the round out and scheduled finish time is 15:00. I have said I don't mind doing it but if I don't get this Saturday I feel like telling them to sort it themselves and I'll just do my hours.
If he makes me work it I have childcare issues as well.
Any advice fellow posties

Did you not get a print out with your annual leave entitlement on it? Is there a board in the office with the allocated leave on it for the year? If neither of those are to hand, and it's not on the system as booked, you might be out of luck.

Would recommend that the OPG stands his ground. If it was booked and someone screwed up then it was not the OPG's fault. You have to stand up at some time. More often than not it will work and hols will be granted. (hopefully). If it ain't in writing, then it hasn,t been booked in by the past DOM. When dealing with Royal Mail you have to make sure that you have everything in writing. Without it you are up the creek without a paddle.

Had a similar problem recently. I have the hols I 'booked' ; even though they had not done the paperwork properly. In our office we've had the same issue. Doms away and its in his computer but not office computer. I'm assuming. Everyone should stand there grounds when it comes to holidays. Its down to rm improper procedure why some many cock ups are made, and lack of staff.

As far as i'm aware annual leave is recorded on the PSP system,this is an internal system that can be accessed from any office computer so i'm not sure i would buy the "its in his computer" line.
