Hi all

Quick question

I live 10 miles away from my DO. The snow near me is really deep now and i fear i will be unble to trvel their in the morning. My nearest delivery office is 5 miles from me.

What should i do???

Personally,i would try to get to the other DO IF it was safe/safer to do so,and you deffo can't get to your parent DO,cover your back.
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

IF you cant get out... then you cant get out... simple...
you could ask if they could collect you in a 4x4 if you dont have one... my do wasn't sympathetic when i was worried about it happening to me...
ask if you could take a holiday...
its not you fault... my wife has missed work 3 times this week, and her work were totally understandable... where as mine... make you feel guilty... Dont let them... if you cant get there... you cant get there...

I won't be getting in to work this morning :/. Tried to get off the street and failed miserably lol. I didn't expect this much snow at all. Rang work to tell them and they said it was fine.
Probably have to give up one of my days off or something on Monday.

i too was snowed in. I work nights and start at 11.30pm couldn't leave the village then, tried again at 2.30am and got stuck in the next village a mile away so walked home. When i contacted work they said take a days leave which i think is a little unfair as i wouldn't be driving around at 2.30am while on leave! I am to find out Monday whether i can have special leave paid,if i have to use a days leave next time it snows i will make no attempt to travel and treat it as a days leave!

may be an idea that royal mail and the union to get an agreement on bad weather arrangments as it seems that
every year there are disagreements amongst staff and managers in all differant areas.
if there was a national guideline atleast staff and managers would know where they stand.

Set off for work at 6.30am,got stuck on my street,so walked to my local office.

Threw some sequenced out,prepped some D2D & after much deliberation got the all clear to go home at 10.30.

Which was nice. :wave
