Transferring to another Office

Doing my round today I had to deliver an RM payslip. The chap was in the drive, so we got chatting. He's been with RM 25 years and during the conversation he said he wanted to transfer to the office I'm in. Coincidentally I want to move to his office.

So, a few questions for you.

1. I started about 3 weeks ago on a permanent contract, how long do I have to wait until I can move office? I know with temporary contracts you have to wait the length of the contract before you can move i.e. 3 months, 4 months or 6 months.

2. I am on a 3 days, 24 hour contract, I'm guessing he's on a full 39 hour contract. Could this present a problem?

3. How long does the process take?

4. Can an office manager stop the move? I'm thinking he may want to keep an experienced flexible man rather than have to train up a novice.

You have to go through the proper channels ie chesterfield sort all transfers out . No office will take a 39 hour contract in a transfer request . You have a better chance for only bein on 24 hour contract I think I might be wrong phone Sheffield up and find out .

I fully appreciate it will have to be done through the proper channels but I was wondering if anybody could answer my questions to establish if it could happen or if there are any stumbling blocks.

The 'new' method for transfers is outlined on the PSP system (People Systems Portal), don't hold your breath it's not simple but basically you have to register interest in a Unit/Units you wish to transfer to and when an ECR (Employee Change Request) is placed that matches your request is actioned i.e. a vacancy matching your contracted hours, then the person longest on the list will be offered the job. A current attendance warning or CC can no longer be used to 'block' people, also the losing manager can only quote 'operational necessity' for 28 days................reads very well would appreciate if anyone who's actually used this could let us all know, especially if you're full-time

Also looking for a transfer (England to Scotland) due to the partner wishing to move home. I have initiated my transfer within my office and filed the appropriate forms so I pressume it is now a case of waiting for news 'should' a suitable transfer arise? Is there anything I can do mean time?
