Dear Colleagues,

We met with Royal Mail today and have identified that they are not prepared to even consider our members being able to bank the time even though we believe that there clearly are instances where banking would be more beneficial. The meeting closed at 3pm this afternoon and there is no resolution. Therefore our previously issued advice on this matter still stands. The indications are that they will impose the Shorter Working Week on Monday if they cannot get a consensus in the office on the options they are putting forward. Any attempt to introduce any change without agreement of the Rep and the members should be met with disagreement. Those disagreements should be forwarded immediately to the Divisional Representative and Outdoor Department.

A more detailed LTB will be issued tomorrow afternoon.

Yet again RM has managed to string out talks with the CWU until the last minute,

Then do as they wish with the members,

And the CWU plays catch-up

A deadline of 28 days BEFORE the 28th Jan should have been set by the CWU, thus giving the CWU time to formulate a response.

What's a Shorter Working Week?

Our DOM is away this week thankfully as she just makes things 100% worse. However, even with the cover DOM who at least tries to talk to you properly it was impossible to see where we could have our hour off.
We haven't been through delivery methods yet and probably won't be for 6 months or more, so I think banking the hours would be the only way.
When you write down all the times and see when you are supposed to leave the office with the 15 mins taken off 4 days or any permutation, I can't see how it can be done.
Initially it was just a case of having the time earlier or at the end on 4 days as Saturday wasn't an option as there's even less time to give away then, but then as I say nothing looks possible apart from being given a day off every 8 weeks.

I am eternally gratefull for my P/T wage going up.

No - it is when FTs drop from 40 to 39 - not everyone has yet - so the theory may be a good thing but as usual the practice in action is a different story entirely.
