Hi guys. Found out that the duty I do is going to be involved in a repick we are having. I work in the registered locker and I had to be interviewed and assessed for it when I applied for the duty as it was classed as a specialist duty which went on your capabilities rather than seniority. Does anybody know if this duty is still ringfenced so to speak from the repick or does it now go off seniority rather than capabilities,or anybody know where I can find any more infomation on this. My Dom says it will be in the repick so why did I have all the procedures to go through last time the duty had a vacancy. Thank you all

were close to a re-sign (repick) and have been told that the locker/phg job and d.o.m support are both ring fenced UNLESS they want to come off them .....so they can take any walk in the repick,,,,but we cant have the phg on senirity

and we had a vote to stop the changes because of this,,,and were told from the area rep that we were wasting our time and its a long standing agreement

That's odd, because during our revision several "cage" staff lost their indoor role and were replaced by OPGs with "family friendly" and/or "dda" qualifiers, some are back outdoor delivering for the first time in >5 years.

How long ago was it you were interviewed for this job ? And as far as i am aware if there is no change to a duty then it is ringfenced ?

If a duty hasn't changed significantly it doesn't have to go into the repick.
It's a bit of a con really.
Show me a locker job that hasn't changed in the last 5 years with tracked or rlb or dealing with PDA's or attendance times,the job content is always changing.
If you only want to talk about core changes then that will never change,does that mean locker is a job for life?
Not in our office,in ours it goes into any major change repick and is resourced by suitability and seniority.
Most senior,suitable member gets it,end of story.

How long ago was it you were interviewed for this job ? And as far as i am aware if there is no change to a duty then it is ringfenced ?

it was February 2010 and the duty has changed a fair bit somerset
