After my previous thread, I handed in my notice, left Royal Mail and got a temp job for my neighbours business. I had a job interview today for a job applied for over Christmas (the B&H was that bad then!). I had the interview this morning and to be honest, I wasn't hopeful. It was a disaster in my opinion and I waffled crap! I came out angry at myself and knew there was not a hope in hells chance of me getting it.
How wrong was I! I got the job and start next week. It's a great job. School hours and term time only. Money is slightly less (by 50p an hour) than Royal Mail. But im on a permanent (yes permanent) contract of 35 hours a week!
This is the hours and days I have dreamt of since I had kids!!
I will still be writing to hr, union and moya about treatment at RM and about half way through composing the tomb of a letter it will be!!
To others wanting to leave. Apply for other jobs, you never know what's round the corner.

Working at the local further education college for the student union. This is the sort of job I had dreamed of with the hours I will be working. It's 8.30-3.00 mon-fri term time only.fng wrote:Whats the new job doing ?
They ask of you will be willing to do two evenings a year (yep a year!) for there open evenings. My hubby can look after the kids whilst I do that so not a problem. And it is only two evenings.
So happy. So everyone keep looking at your local colleges and unis etc.. For term time jobs. I know a lot on here work for RM cos of child care. This could be an alternative for you.

Thanks everyone. I really am happy about it. I took a huge risk of leaving before I got a new proper job but it paid off. I always tell people to get a new job before leaving current one, I probably should I taken my own advice! It could of been very scary. I spose I was lucky my neighbour took pity on me!
