Why do you care you already expressed that you will not support it if it happens ?? Let's hope if Royal Mail is sold they don't change the VR terms or you might find that the terms you get for VR for 24 years service is very poor indeed.

Some of us care, some of us hope that this isn't just an idle threat. It could be the saving of Royal Mail and therefore jobs. Why would any company send anything by DSA if there were the chance it wouldn't get delivered.

We need this ballot now.

The union and members only need this ballot if it can be won. In lots of units members are not even aware of this threat ! The campaign at national level has been silent since the Christmas break , there is a pec today where hopefully it will be relaunched. But don't kid yourself this ballot if it happens will be harder then winning a legal ballot as we will be dealing with the law as well.

Who would we face the legal threat from is the question?
Royal Mail?
The DSA companies?
The Government?
The EU?
All of the above?
It's a legal minefield,a huge risk for a union to take on and for that reason plus the difficulties in getting a yes vote i don't think it will happen.
That's just an opinion though and i could easily be wrong...and in this case i hope i am.

The ballot may happen but nothing will come from it, it's just for publicity. A PEC member told me this recently, no way will members be asked to walk for DSA.£400 million a year is the revenue from DSA. As Dingo said it's gone very quite since Christmas, run out of ideas maybe? To be fair the postal workers day on the 17th was a farce. Branches should be organising roadshows to every unit to get members informed and involved. Any marches been arranged? To protest with our feet and voices!!

The problem with that line of attack is the impact it has on the membership.
Every time you cry wolf and then fail to follow through you lose credibility with the members,they haven't forgotten the promises to fight over pensions that came to nothing or the promises to fight to get the colleagueshare money back which have so far came to nothing(where is the new incentive scheme?),the promises of a fair and manageable workload that BT2010 should have brought,the promises of an independent review into bullying 3 years ago that again came to nothing.
It chips away at support and then along comes a big issue and....

End to end delivery,not only cuts you guys completely out of the equation...it does the same to us on delivery.
If this was simply about direct stream access mail it would be 10 years too late.

Will it take off or how widespread it could become is anyone's guess,i can't imagine TNT Post are making much through the trial but that's not what trials are usually about.
The union is guilty of one thing though,not making any real noise when they were trialing this in Liverpool a couple of years ago.
Waiting until it landed on their doorsteps has just reinforced membership opinion that it's a London problem and only really of interest to the union because it now affects London.
That was clearly a mistake.

dingo i knew that you would bite thats why i raised the issue
fact i am the most pro union man in my office ask tamsky
i am fed up totally with being fed lies from my own union and the way we are represented at local and national level
the 2010 agreement was a con pure and simple which was endorsed by cwu at pec level knowing full well the wishes of members
fact i put out a letter last week asking for signatories to put to cwu rm to ensure job done properly
ie taking breaks , return to office and use of trollies.
out of 150 i got 20 signatures the ones who do the job props
rurals not interested ,collections not interested, css not interested ,firms duties not interested ,pt not interested
so god help any ballot

And there lies the whole problem with the union, dismantled, segregated and with an attitude that if the birds aren,t sh.it.ng on my roof, im not interested.
