Driving allowances after P&L.

Hiya. Our office is shortly moving to park and loop. We're moving from high top ford & ldvs to the small bippa style vans soon.

We've been told that our ￡28 drivers allowance is gone with the revision. Are we not entitled to a three year pay protection on this amount?

Furthermore, we have also been told that a drivers allowance should not have been paid as the we vans we used are under three and a half tons and we, in fact, may have tpo pay back years of allowances. This surely can't be true?

Under the Way Forward Agreement driving allowances disappeared except for those driving vehicles over 3.5T (and high tops I believe.)
A £6 weekly grandfather payment was available to those who were currently in receipt of the driving allowance but were due to lose it.
If you have been receiving the driving allowance but were not driving the vehicles that attract it, you need to contact your Branch for advice.
In theory they could try and recover it. But it was their fault for continuing to pay it and a reasonable repayment schedule would have to be drawn up.

Thanks for the reply my friend. I think branch will have to stand firm on this one. We've had three unit managers over the last six years rubber stamping these allowances, so it's an error on their part if it was cash that should not have been paid.
