Rep gets first choice of duty in resign

This should not happen unless the office agrees to it, it goes on seniority.
But! in saying that if you appreciate the work your rep does and time it takes, the pressure he is possibly under, what is wrong with making sure that he gets some time built into a duty, so his union tasks can be done to their full potential. He should get 2 hours built in on one day to have a resource meeting with the Dom(depending on size of unit).
Under the new revision walks should be fair and equal so choosing first should just be on duty type and geography. What he could try and do is choose a duty of say around 30-32 hours so he has the time in the week to assist members, a PTimer can then be made up on a temp basis to do a 39 hour job. Everyone is then happy!

Quite simply with such a small group the answer has to be no! There can't be that much difference in him picking first or his seniority postion

But in a office so small where we won't be getting anyone new in anymore why would a resign be Necessary! The senior people are the ones that have cut there jobs up making them so easy why the junior people will get knocked off the duties they've protected over the last 5 years!

Annual leave in our office is done on a rotate each year if you didn't get first choice this year you go to the top the next year!

All walks are picked on seniority. But he should have 10 minutes a day built into his duty in duty builder

i am a rep and picked in my seniority order.....you should never!!! feather your own nest so to speak!
i do have 2 hours release built in to my duty tho and i only use them if i need them

I was at a meeting with a Divisional Rep who told us that when going through the revision process, we should ensure there is a rep's duty which was smaller than the other duties to ensure there was enough time in the day/week for union work.

As my colleague told him - if I went back to my office and told them I was going to have a smaller duty, you would have 70 less union members tomorrow.

Well he would probably think that for two reasons, that he doesn't work and if the rep had more time off then the rep would be able to attend to the div reps work giving him more free time to ...............erm, erm
