What Do You Do If You Can Get To Work, But Not Home?

Just wondering what, or if, there is an official line regarding this.

You can get to work, but the weather forecast is pretty bad and it is doubtful you will be able to get home, even if you leave early.

Say you start at 0630, with heavy snow forecast for 0600 till mid afternoon. Public transport is likely to be stopped and you don't live within walking distance.

So, do you go in? Leave early? Throw a sickie? Trust to the common sense and good nature of your manager? :left:

If you can get in - you go in.
If you can't get home - you spend the night in the DO. Just imagine the flyer you could get if you start really early the next day.

I got caught in the snow once and buses stopped. Went to the pub with some others and had pie chips and 2 pints. Came out a couple of hours later and the buses were running again so went home. Has to be really bad for buses to stop completely. I guess crash out in the office somewhere. :hmmmm

It would take a lot to stop me getting home,I'd crawl home over broken glass rather than spend a night with some of the people I work with.

must admit ,it is a bit of a strange one if you live a distance away , i mean you cant turn up at your 'local' office if the bad weather hasn't even started , i have a 22 mile round trip !! tomorrow is supposed to be bad , but according to the forecast not until about 9 or 10 o'clock in my area , im bolloxed ,if it turns out to be as heavy as they say it is ......i don't want to be stuck at work , and im not risking having an accident trying to get home if it sets in really bad because im meant to stay at work :hmmmm .......cant throw a sickie ......HELP

I have a 30 mile round trip, if weather gets bad I will go home, even if I only work several hours. I was told by management years ago they would put me up at a local hotel, but I have responsibilities, so I went home, they never compained. Its only a job, and if they want to they can clear my duty they can. Have children to feed etc. :wave
