I have never been able to see why, when the government hand Royal Mail a huge loan a few years ago it was decided to use it to modernise the letters business. After all they have been telling use for many years now that the volume of letters are dropping, so why modernise the diminishing aspect of the business? would it not have been better to use the money to modernise our parcel and packets infastructure.

Oh...just spotted the real reason in her quote, "We need external capital" translation Private Capital. So as the private companies can benefit at the taxpayers expense because it is through taxpayers money that the paid for the letters modernisation.

is that why my mail now arrives up to three hours later than it did pre-modernisation.
