advice for Thursday

The industrial action begins at noon on Thursday but it is possible that I may not have completed delivery by noon. Obviously I do not want to work after the deadline passes but I am concerned about accustations of willful delay of mail. Please give me advice.

Correct. But if you have to do overtime to complete the delivery you cant as the strike bans overtime.

the industrial action applies to duties,O/T or S/A that starts at or after midday thursday which for most posties in delivery applies to fri morning hope that clarifies things

My colleague and I do a weekly rotation 1 week early 5am-13.00 and 1 late 11.30am-19.30. On the late shift we have our meal break before we start, so we don't start till 12.10. Will the late shift duty have to go in?? I've a feeling the answer will be yes.

My guess is yes as the official start time of your shift is before 12.00 when the strikes start. I'd also suggest going in before a picket line starts just in case as if you are persuaded not to cross any picket line you could be conducted and fall foul of the Unofficial Industrial Action trap.

Could you clarify my situation for me - I am a P/T on a F/T walk (

) & have to do O/T to complete. I do not like breaking off, 'cos I need the money ( just over Â£265 after tax & NI for 30hrs, 8 hrs docket & allowances

). As my O/T starts at 11am, will I have to get myself back to the DO for 12, or can I complete my delivery, for the sake of my customers? ( I know, I know, it is precisely this sort of goodwill & pride in the job that RM likes to abuse

)

Aren't you entitled to a meal relief of at least 20 mins, for every 5 hrs worked? I cannot understand how you can take your 40 mins at the start of an 8hr shift?

You get paid more than me SJ for less hours and I'm full time

We get a 'grace' break at 4pm.........if they got someone to cover it

How long is the "grace" break? If it's 40 minutes you aren't working a full shift under any guise so it's no wonder he's working more hours than you. It seems more like an excuse to start your shift late.

In any case you should be doing the job PROPERLY from Monday which means 11.30 start and take your 40 min OFFICIAL break at 4.
