Changing Day Off
My mate normally has every Tuesday as his day off but needs to have a Thursday off due to an appointment at a hospital in a few weeks time. The last time he needed to change his day off he was told he HAD to bring his appointment letter in to get the day changed. My friend does not want to show any appointment letter as this has personal information on it. Is it actually required to produce an appointment letter?

yes its required, just mark out with a black felt tip pen the bits he doesnt want them to see. Department/clinic attending etc just leave date and time showing

I used to work a 5 x 6hr 30 p/t week and was given the Tues off 'cos it was the lightest day;
I'm sure I was the only postie that worked his hr.s..
made for some reasonable 4 day w/ends when we used to have short Sat.s though.

When I have had hospital appointments, I have been given the day off without losing my normal day off.
What have I done to deserve this?

Previous office ... 0ne in six. Even as a reserve (as i was)
This (new) office ... fixed day off.
The staff voted for fixed day off. Beggars belief.
Funnily enough my fixed day is Tuesday. Is that because I am part time (30 hours)?

At my place it tends to be FTs that have fixed Tuesdays off - quiet traffic days so no need for so many on IPS was the theory, whereas the outside element is hard to cover so to sweeten the deal PTs were given rotating 1 in 6 days off.
