Our Dom today announced the next round of cuts for our office
As from next week there can only be two hours of overtime for the whole office per week
And as from April he has to save 150 hours per week so we are going to have another revision with people losing their 4 days on 4days off duties
Obviously the union rep as gone into disagreement but historically this has achieved nothing
On the plus side they are making everyone take all their break before they go out on delivery except part timers on p&l and their full time 2 walk prepper partners who take half before and the other whilst out
It will all end in tears
The union rep said at the meeting that everyone should do their job properly which a few of us already do,but you know it will fall on deaf ears
So this is the race that has no finishing line so that when we are sold off we can make some wealthy people even richer

At ours everyone took exception and, as an office, selected to work NO overtime !

( and still going >3 mths later with very few taking the option of 'xmas pressure', 2 hrs daily, either.. that was securing the Tips rather than the o/t.. )

No he meant two hours for the whole office per week,he quoted the traffic figures
This office is full of chocolate teapots who talk a good fight then melt when it comes to carrying out their threats
Hopefully people will see this as the last straw but can't see it myself they will still come in early and do anything they can to make it work for them to make ten minutes here and there

Yeah thanks for that it could be a reply for most posts on here,I very rarely do any ot but there are a lot of people who need it,the office will hopefully be chaotic and they will see the error of their ways,wait a minute am I fu@@ing dreaming

Going to disagreement will only achieve anything if your office is prepared to follow it through to the end game.
That means not accepting any half-assed compromise or pressure from Area and above and being prepared for executive action and industrial action to protect your 4 day weeks and jobs.
The question is...are they?

If they aren't i wouldn't bother starting a fight i wasn't prepared to finish.

there will always be a next round of cuts. they will keep chancing it until the cuts don't work anymore and the mail backs up in each office and at that point they will give a little back to make it work. its not rocket science.

just work the job how it is meant to be done - safely and efficiently. don't get pulled into all the pressure and targets crap that's for them to worry about not us. you really have nothing to worry about. they pay your wages so do a days work for them then go home . simples.

Unfortunately I don't think they are most of the office haven't heard that there could be a ballot to boycott the d.s.a,in short they don't see the big picture at all,that their rushing around and coming in early all as an effect,what can you do when only about 5 people in an office actually give a care the rest just swallow what ever comes their way it's frustrating to see but you can't make them see sense,they agree but do nothing,this office was once known as the most militant in the area but when all the old boys who know the craic retire its over

Apparently the people who come back before their time will go back out with it that's what is behind making them take all of their break before they leave,because of the staggered start times and most people still taking their break off the end of their duties the Dom says he didn't know the correct duty times,I doubt it will work,he accused us of working to the volume of mail and that he is tasked with stopping all talking no tea breaks when ips is being done etc etc all so we are more profitable so we can make some fat cats even more rotund

If they really want to cut OT they will do what the former Thames Valley Region did a while back and take the authority for giving OT away from the DOM and raise it to DSM level. In practise this could never ever work ... which is what they wanted all along as hardly any OT was authorised, had a bit of a crappy effect on End to End though :)

Cheers it's advice I've adhered to for many years,unfortunately here it falls on deaf ears,example when we were told that d2ds were part of the traffic figures and only one sixth a day should be prepped and that they should be done last nobody except the union rep and myself out of the whole office actually do them correctly,and when you say that they are not doing themselves any favours they come at you with it's quicker our way what about Saturday? I'm not doing d2ds on Saturday,and believe it or not we have got one colleague who comes in on Monday morning when it's his long weekend to throw his weeks d2ds in his frame ready for Tuesday when he delivers the lot and this is a man with nearly 30 years service the job is only going to get worse and yes the union is only as strong as its members and here it is FEEBLE
