Shorts now banned !!!

Just got back from a weeks holiday to find that shorts have now been banned due to Health and Safety issues
the DIM also mentioned some National Agreement also had implemented this new rule. There are about 5 of us wear shorts all year round maybe mad and I know we get a few remarks on our rounds usually bit of banter but in general we never have had a problem. Is this happening anywhere else ?? or is it something our DIM and Health and Safety rep have dreamt up they love rocking the boat

The 1st news item...

Summer came early last week with record temperatures for this time of year recorded in many places.

But were you wearing your shorts?

Only 31% of those who took part in our poll said they were dressed for summer during last week's mini heatwave, while 52% of you said you hadn't got your legs out yet.

And 17% said they brave it whatever the weather and wear shorts all year round.

Let's hope summer returns soon.

I am still in shorts even through the snow today.

if you are wearing RM uniform that they have provided then you can wear whatever part of it you want, even a skirt if you so wish.

my DIM told me at the start of November that I had to wear trousers for work, I told him to sod off and if he could show me where in my contract that I could not wear shorts on delivery then I would remove them and wear trousers.

needless to say, he never got back to me about it.

you will be paid for it then, as you are wearing provided RN uniform and the DIM will have to state why he sent you home.

I wear shorts all year round, and when i got in this morning there were a few comments from people working because of a pathetic amount of snow, seems sad to call it snow, if you get any snow fall people think it is colder than it has been yet but it was warmer than it has been before with no comments made, no frost outside.

Anyway while working the DOM started to drop hints i should put trousers on, "Mad aren't you in shorts" "It is cold out there shouldn't you put some trousers on"

I just told him it wasn't that bad and carried on. Once you get out working you don't feel the cold and i as pretty darn toasty. If your core is warm the rest of your body is warm, hence why you can wear a gillet and a t shirt in cold weather and be fine.

If you are exercising I personally dont feel the cold in my legs.

Our DIM did a delivery albeit part of one a while ago he was called to help at another office to help out when we saw
