I've read on the forum about 'signed duties'.

What are they please? I've been allocated to a duty but I've signed nothing.

I do it most of the week, 4 days last week, 5 days this week.

Please enlighten this newbie.

When there is a vacancy, or a reassignment of duties (called a repick in RM because we pick the duties in order), then a postie can apply for that duty. If they are successful then they are said to have signed for that duty. This brings certain agreements into force.

As a newbie you are effectively a reserve and have no set duty, although they should try to keep you on a set duty whilst you learn the ropes.

I've been told I'm on the walk/duty for the next eight weeks. What happens after that is in the lap of the RM Gods.
