i have in the past worked in the phgs office ,dishing out parcels etc, but am now back delivering ,i still go in and make a drink every morning ,but was seen by the assistant DOM,who asked the senior PHG what was going on ,he explained and the assistant DOM told him to tell me i couldnt go in again ,has it was a breach of security ,should i be told this by the assistant DOM,or as the PHG got the authority. no guesses please i am in on a conduct code over this and want to get my facts right -thanks.

Both.
The "phg" although that isn't what he is,he's just an OPG working in the locker has responsibility for the security of the area and the items in it so if he wants you to stay out that's his call.
The manager is a manager,the guy in the locker doesn't override him.

2 - I would argue the case that you were security cleared to work within the locker cage and as such you would not be a security risk.
3 - Were you fully trained to work in the cage ? ( PHG training course ) If no

Everyone goes into our security locker including agency workers and gas fitters!
The old PHG's would never let you beyond the door. Standards have slipped and no one seems to care

There is no need for you to go into the locker as 'now' you are not authorised to be in there,you are a delivery postie and that's all.
But I do think a conduct for it is a bit ott.

It's immaterial if you are trained for that duty or not - you aren't assigned for that duty and so you should not be in the locker.

At one time the locker used to be a free for all, but not any longer, the door should be secured and a signing in log kept. In the event of an audit there could be serious repercussions for the OPG who is assigned to that duty if an unauthorised person was found in the locker - particularly if the manager chose to be an arse.

You said no guesses but for obvious reasons you have not given the detail of what happened. What has seniority got to do with what you did?

I doubt you will just get a conduct code for straying or being overconfident that you can go into an area where you are not authorised... A simple plea of ignorance and a apology from you should have been enough

Anyway; the reason why you went in is not good enough and it seemed that you had too much time on your hands and/or you were getting too chummy with folks that should be busy at their work. Will I be right in saying that there are other places where you can go and make tea/coffee?

royalmail a law unto themselves 14 years service if you have upset this particular DIM you will probably be dismissed the Management in this once great Company are corrupt from CEO down to OPGS PHGS dont exist anymore .Royal Mail is in breach of its own security rules by leaving a van full of mail etc for upto hour at a time,hypocryts its called moving the goalposts for there gain anybody with 10 years or more is a valid Target.I was a keyholder i raised a legitamite greivance this DIM saw an oputunity to get rid of me and was so focused on seing it through never once asked for **** back that was 3 years ago complete novices but when offered a bonus this particular DIM took it to extreme levels by getting rid of at least 25 full timers in as many months with the help of his corrupt Cluster Manager.See where im going

regarding to much time ,i arrive at work five minutes before my starting time and make the drink then ,jesus you ask a simple question and get accused of having to much time been to pally with people ,wind your neck in, its bad enough putting up with management all week ,without coming on here and getting slagged off ,thanks for all your replys ,i,ll leave it at that.

Responding in writing can be very blunt, the way I saw the question about making a drink was actually giving you good advice. If the posters can "slagged off" (constructive criticism) what you are saying before the manager can, then you are ready with answers so you are one step ahead of the manager, a very good position to be in. The reason for making your drink there is ................ the whole office keeps the coffee there, where the office kettle is kept. We are all different but after saying about making a drink there I would ask the forum what would be a justified reason for that action.

my original question was answered in the first reply ,didnt really wont everyones opinion on why i was in there etc ,so i,ll move on.
