I know the strike is crippling but it is vital we as full timers and part timers unite as one.People dont seem to realise that if Royal Mail get their way (which they have openly said they will do when changes come in) 30,000 of the current 130,000 workers will be made redundant, which is nearly a quarter of the workforce.It is the workers with less seniority (who have worked there the least time) who will be up the road first.Yes, there might be a few who just leave aswell as EVR, but that is why workers MUST back industrial action.

Other major conditions that WILL come in if Royal Mail win is:

Cut back of nearly a quarter of the current workforce
Absorb 6 summer walks into 5 (More work for no extra pay)
Remove D2D payments (More work for less pay)
Absorb short term sick leave between 5 walks (More work for less pay)
Loss of early shift allowance forever (if you change to a different shift)
Change from weekly to monthly pay
Reduction of working hours in summer
Pay increase not even equivalent to inflation with all the extra work taken on
Later start times (Would you ask the milkman to deliver the milk in the afternoon)
Flexible working, with employees working different hours on different days of the week, with only 7 days notice for changes
Retirement at 65 after 2010 on a worse pension
Productivity bonuses based on beating your (impossible) budget and â€œcolleague sharesâ€

You've hit the nail on the head jingle mate. Work out the loss over the years if your still in the business. I've got 25 years left. 30 if RM changes are railroaded in. By absorbing door to door into workload, i'm Â£26 a week worse off. (Â£39000) That's without the increase in D2D to 5 items per drop.
If they put in the new MTSF, allowance protection will surely go. Another Â£12 per week (Â£18000). With annulised hours imposed any overtime worked would be used to either bank or pay back hours. As i work my rest day at the moment and do 2 nights on the collection hub it would probably cost me Â£115 a week gross. I know docket isn't guaranteed but it'll still be classed as loss in earnings. Not forgetting 6 into 5 in the summer and sick cover, all for no extra pay.
For all of those people who state they can't afford to strike, they should look at what they WILL lose in hard cash up to the time they retire. And when they retire the pension will be worth less than it is for people retiring now.

Agree wholeheartedly!People have got to realise what we stand to lose if RM get there way.They want way too much from us,and we get nothing in return except more work for less money.Everyone should read the proposals that were rejected by the union to see exactly what we are up against.

You are so right if we dont stick together now then our future is not worth thinking about. I think RM are just waiting to see what the support is like after the two twentyfour hour strikes, so its vital that we all unite even though we are all going to be hit hard.

I have stressed this time and time again,NONE of us can afford to loose 4 days pay,but many are prepared to as they can see the bigger picture,we all need to educate the waverers.I'll be out on strike alongside my collegues....................BE STRONG AND BE UNITED
