A quick question about our revision

The power at be started our revision a few months ago and will be completed by the end of this month. All the walks have been changed accordingly and there should only be 2 van sharing rounds, though the amount of walks have been vastly reduced, so once the revision is complete, we will be over staffed.

Also, about 4 months ago a smaller office was closed and they moved the 5 postmen into our office, but they were never part of our office, so did not have to do any IP sort or lapsing. But once the revision is complete, they will be part of our office and can pick any round they want when it comes to the re-pick.

What this means is, I was 6th senior and senior driver, but because all the new guys are senior to me, this now places me 11th senior and I now risk losing a round (rural) I have been doing for 7 plus years.

In my eyes, this is unfair, I have worked my nuts off in my office, I don't want to lose a round I enjoy doing.
All the new guys are drivers, so can pick my round if they want to, also, there rounds have been reduced from 4 to 1, so they will be picking a round in our office.

Surely these new guys can't just step in and take seniority ?

I need solid answers please, so I can approach the management and voice my concerns, we still have a few more meetings before the re-pick starts.

It sounds like rather than two offices sharing the same building as is the case in our office(2 offices,two separate re-picks),this work has simply been merged into yours which would mean that yes,they can pick your duty if they are senior because your office is now their parent office.

My duty has changed, but the extra they have put on has only added 10 minutes to my day, can this still be construed as a change ?

Is there a minimum change before a duty is added to a re-pick ?

Change can mean change to attendance time,duty patterns,indoor content as well as the outdoor element.
It is very unlikely you could argue your duty has not been subject to major change.

As it stands now and has been the way since they came into our office, there mail comes on a separate van and they sort it them selves, we have nothing to do with there mail.
As it stands now, they are sharing our office and they have there own little corner.

However, once the revision is complete, they have the right to be part of the re-pick. This is causing lots of tension and bad blood and in my eyes and many others eyes is wrong and unfair.
Because of this office moving into our office and being allowed to take part with the revision and re-pick, people who have been with us for several years will have 2 choices, move office or leave.

Now, is that fair ??

Yes if the repick and the revision follow all the agreements we have in place. I have only a few years more on my duty than you, and frankly I am nervous about losing the duty I have, however, thats part of the job and its something we have to suck up.

Now how about looking at it from the other offices view.

Did they want to move: Unlikely
Are they happy to have moved probably further away from their duties: Probably Not.
Are they happy about the extra travelling to and from work: I doubt it.

Perhaps you have more in common and less to fear than you think.

Is there a way to read these agreements ?

If I don't know the agreements, then I won't know if the agreements have been broken and I don't trust my local rep enough to make sure the agreements have not been broken.

However, if you use the Search facility (top right next to FAQ) which is available on every page on RMC and use those terms then you will have a lot of information to go on.
