bad back

Post by GavinC85 »

worked for royal mail for 5 years + and never really had problems with my back, 2 weeks ago while slotting in my frame i pulled a muscle in my back (a letter was the only thing i was lifting :Very Happy ) told the manager and he got someone to help me with my duty, anyway its kept coming and going since, but today it's really starting to hurt, do i tell the managers again? or just wait and go to the doctors? or just hope it goes away?

ive had a bad back for a few years now, but since doing a few stretching exercises before going to work in the morning, i feel a lot more comfortable. i would see your local GP and take any advice offered.

Like most other long term posties ive had a dodgy back for years.

There's not a great deal you can do other than keep it warm. So wear a tea shirt under your shirt or keep your jacket on whilst on delivery.

Other than that its rest you need whilst at home and i find a warm hot bottle helps. Pain killers in the morning before work can ease the ache and help you get going. It should start to ease in a few days but if it gets a lot worse then i would say go sick before you do any more damage.

Good luck, its not easy, keep that back warm at all costs.
Rows of houses all bearing down on me........I can feel their blue hands touching me.......All these things in all positions.........All these things will one day take control..........

I've had a bad back on and off for years. I'm seeing a physio about my knee at the moment and told her that my back had been quite debilitating lately. She gave me a few exercises to do on it but the best thing was the pressure point massage. Not had a back problem since  so get yourself a referral to see a physio.

KT Tape is good as well, http://www.amazon.co.uk/Levotape-Kinesi ... 439&sr=8-9

I use that when it get's really sore, usually about this time of the year as it gets colder.
I've been having KT taping on my knee.....well the NHS version, strips of Elastoplast!

Go through ATOS! They will arrange treatment and instruct your DOM that you need light duties. No idea why people are so scared of ATOS tbh.

I recommend using a McTimmoney chiropractor, My body has been abused all my life(horses and posting) and all the different physio's etc have never helped, but McTimmoney are wonderful. Look up on the net for your nearest one. Unfortunately RM will not cough up, but I think they should pay for all delivery posties to have this monthly. :wave

Diazepam.
It's a wonderful muscle relaxant.
Reaches the parts other prescription medications don't.
Not for too long though...it has it's issues.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share
