Does anyone know if Postal Workers can claim tax relief/rebate for cleaning of our Uniform or is it already compensated for in RM Employees Tax Codes ?

When I joimed (from being unemployed) my tax code was the "normal" 810L. After a couple of months HRRC changed the code to 822L meaning I can earn an extra £120 before paying tax. I mentioned this to another postie and he said it was for laundry costs.

Yes you are. The "normal" tax code in this tax year is 944L which means you don't pay tax on the first £9440. So a code of 956L means you don't pay tax on the first £9560, which is an extra £120 a year before you are taxed. Not a great difference, but better than it being the other way.

810L is the tax code for 2012/13, this year's is 944L and the laundry costs rebate makes it 956L. It doesn't matter how many hours you do.

If she is washing your uniform and you are still getting it you are doing very well. My ex-wife rarely gave it at all.

I probably had more chance of getting it from the washing machine than from my ex-wife.
