Doing the planners work

Just got off hols all the office got a print off the new duties (haha), been told by the planner we must sort out the fine tuning eg working out where we park etc. We do not have time in our hours. I plus others work our full hours, are we obliged to do this in our time for nothing? I DO NOT work overtime,have better things to do. The planner say's we have local knowledge, but many off us do not know the new parts we would be taking on. What does the planner do? Last time the planner made our day a 8 hour day, as we said we do not want work 9 day fortnights(he planned the duties at 9 hour day's) but have not changed anything. So all in all we have a 9 hour day changed to a 8 hour day with no changes. HELP Please.

Your rep should have full time release to aid in this process. If he didnt dont agree anything

This is very simple! It is going to be your walks so you had better help in getting it right. A few hours of your time for the greater good should not be see as a waste of time or being exploited.

If the planner messes things up because of lack of local knowledge, you guys will be there complaining. We want management to recognise our input, yet we don't want to spend time contributing - but a lot comes in early to do unpaid work

The best walks in our office are the ones where postie take it upon themselves to get super involved even before things got printed out.

Of course, they just wont actually listen to us because it'll cost them money and we all know that they just want to make their savings.

I don't think much of the planners but to be honest, they do not all have local knowledge but they have the tools (we dont have) and the best way to get the most out of the system is to put some work into it and hold them to task (not easy, I know).

But they will listen more if you have a united workforce, managers that are more on the worker's side (pig's flying) and a strong enough union rep/area rep to challenge things when they are not right or could be better.

Our manager just could not deal with the planner we had - even though, they were the same gender . The planner worked with people that were there to work with and printed a load of stuff and has not been back to make genuine amendments. Nowhere to be seen for months after the whole thing was finished - it was phased. Even the pilot frames were not corrected despite - this was 7 months ago.

I just find it hard when posties could not be bothered and then moan. I was on a frame today where the numbers of the street was wrong? How do you get, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 wrong, I dont know. 5 came before 4, yet the walkholder has not corrected the mistake for 6 months by either using a permanent marker or cutting and pasting the plastic thingy (identifiers)

So if you get involved and get it wrong, then who do you reckon will get the blame, YOU the clue lies in the title.........PLANNERS...... Let them plan Plus any work done for RM should be paid for and not done for feckin free

we are having our walks re-done and we're having a resign. The new duty holders will be having an input as to how they want the loops planned out after all they will be the ones doing the duty day in day out. This will be done in RM time......whilst the duty holder is with the planner their walk will be prepped, so no one has to come in any earlier and no one will get behind because the prep has'nt been done. No one seems to have a problem with that.

Thanks everyone. We have no problems with doing this in RM time, but as a rural office, no acess to the computer. We know off more efficient ways, but the planner will not allow this. He just gave as a mashed up print out off the duties, which we cannot get our heads around. A person not employed by RM also said if we help planner, and the duties fail(they will as we struggle now)we would be blamed as we have local knowledge. So it's as lose lose situation. Thanks.
