mini yorks for packets

Our DOM is trying to bring in some mini yorks for packet use, as a trial, I've just found out about it.
Now I personally don't think it's a good idea, so please don't laugh, but anyone using mini yorks for packets, can you explain how you go about using them.

E.G Where does the Over head go?
Do you take them to your frame and empty them?
Do you empty them directly into the back of the van?
Do you end up doing a lot more bending down, because they are lower down, rather than being able to tip packet bags.

Its called cost cutting ... including smaller yorks by the sound of it.... but with increasing packets and parcels...you might need twice as many...

We've got the mini yorks. Total disaster. The space they take up is massive and the distance you have to throw the packets is liable to increase rather !!! Stick to drop bags if you get a choice.
By the way we take ours to our frame but because of the space they take up our aisles are now narrower so they cause chaos. Only in Royal Mail .....

Are they going to make the packets smaller too?

First off these answers are supposed to be what happens in an ideal world.

It clips onto the individual mini-york with a list of the streets on that duty.

Do you take them to your frame and empty them?

Yes..Under Indoor Methods there is a shelf unit/cupboard thing next to each frame that the mini-york slides under.

Do you empty them directly into the back of the van?

No...you would segregate the large from the small at your frame as you do now with a DB.

Do you end up doing a lot more bending down

No...the sleeve on the min-york is sprung so as you remove the top packets it should slide up.

FT is right about this, although..........it really doesn't work, it really only works if you don't get a lot of packets (unlike my office) and you have already had your WCM revision.

We're sticking with the DBF's, our office is too small for mini yorks

Brought them in in our office for certain walks that get a lot of packets. Only problem is they use one york per pairing. So you have to sort through all packets to see which frame they belong to. Complete waste of time. Yet Mgrs think it is a fantastic idea and saves loads of time!!!!
