Our Delivery office shuts at 2-2.30pm each day and even earlier on saturdays.
Since P/L a lot of people have been taking work vans home after doing docket
Its like a perk .
The DOM asks someone to do some O/T and the person says that for example " Fred is giving me a lift home and wont be able to get home if I do O/T, the DOM then says "take the van home then"
I dont know if this happens in other offices but one day someone will have a prang out of hours and the sh*t will hit the fan

There is a process for taking vans home.
It's called the Overnight Retention Policy.
It's very detailed and if you don't follow it you are risking your job.
It's pointless thinking that if the manager told you to you're in the clear,one of two things will happen if something goes wrong.
The manager will deny all knowledge and you'll be in deep s**t.
The manager won't deny all knowledge and you'll both be in deep s**t.
Either way you're up to your neck in s**t.

We have recently started being allowed to take our vans home since a nearby office got closed down and they came to our office meaning the car park was going to be a nightmare.
You have to fill in an official document giving all your details and then they get an Ariel photo off of Google earth to show your house from above!
Also you have to give a 'plan b' stating who will bring the van into work if you go sick or anything.

funny last year i took my transit home put it on the drive and didnt no we were goin to have the coldest nite evergot up at 5 got in it and nothin dead as a door nail.cudnt even jump start it as it was infront ov the window on me drive way and the steerin lock was the other way around so cudnt push it out . had to phone rac up threw work wernt very happy guy came out cudnt get it goin so had to get it lifted over me wall by a jig onto a wagon hahaha got the biggest b@@@n ever and warned your not to take vans home

My vans a 54 reg ldv pilot,half van, half crew bus, with more dents and rust than a gippos scrap wagon, its embarrising enough to be seen driving it, if they think i'm going to park it outside my humble 3 bed semi with beautiful front garden then they can kiss my A55. Mind you i could park it on my neighbours drive.

We posties arent the brightest, so the temptation on a sunday morning when seeing a red van outside our house and the mrs wants 20 new floorboards from b&q would be too much for some.

yeah it went pink on the bonnett( looked well gay it did) then the rust took over. MOT due next week praying for a massive failure.
