Walk Re-selection

So in our office we are mid-way through a duty re-selection,it's my belief that its completely flawed,we currently have many of the best duties that have been classed as "part time" even though they are no smaller than the full time duties,these "better" part time duties have been picked by the part timers.......many of them no more than a few years service,as a result the seasoned staff including myself,I'm coming up to 15 years service have been left to pick the dregs,having come off my own walk which I have been on for around 5 years I feel I'm taking a backwards step in duties although I have been left with no other option.

Are their others in the same situation and what are your thoughts?

You have a choice of fulltime hour dutys, they have a choice of partime dutys/hours, would you like to ruduce your hours for a better choice?

I don't think there are any FT or PT deliveries, all outdoor work should be the same with only the indoor element changing.

Obviously I wouldn't reduce my hours for a better walk,I think your missing my point....many in our office are disgruntled that the the better walks have been given to the part timer who haven't much seniority......I guess it's not their fault it's the Managers who have put this together......can't really call it a fair re-pick when people who have been there a handful of years are taking priority over far more senior employees

I did express my wishes to the Dom that I might be interest in the handful of "rotation" duties rather than be stuck with a pile of s**t for the next few years......only to be told that I couldn't as them type of duties were reserved for the part timers

in our office there are two different duty lengths, rural planned at 5.15 and p+l planned at 4.15, where the issue arose with the repick was that unless there were a few duties set aside for pt staff then they would become annual leave reserves and would not have enough hours to cover a rural duty

Yes that's correct,but there's certain duties that have been made 30 hour duties for the part timers....many of them the better ones

I believe the full timers should've had first dibs.....based on seniority,what was remaining should've been left to the part timers.....obviously for them based on seniority

why did your union rep agree to the repick terms if the office is not happy with it? he should have dug his heels in and refused to take the revision forward

If the revision is done properly, all the duties will be so crap that nobody will want to pick anything.

the revision will have been signed of by the CWU, if no office rep then signed off by the area REP, if they have not consulted you i would suggest going above their head to branch or national to raise the issue

same here, cusshy walks were made into part time walks bypassing senoirity.
