full time hours break entitlement

Post by andy3665 »

What's the official entitlement for breaks on full time hours? And, when can you take them?

Your daily meal relief is dependent on your daily attendance not your weekly contracted hours.

not quite true, DOM can tell you when to take them as long as its not right at the start or end of shift but somewhere in the middle

So as far as most Doms are concerned anything between the first second and the last second is somewhere in the middle.

Again not quite true.
If you have a revision the timing of your meal relief should be an agreed part of that revision.
Any movement away from that agreed plan due to unforseen business requirements should also be subject to agreement.

got that in writing anywhere that it only applies to offices that have had a revision? and also confirming that the "as directed" part of the 318 no longer applies?

It applies to every office since every office should be working under an agreed revision whether that revision happened in 2012 or 1912.Scheduling meal relief has always been part of the revision process and as such is subject to a member vote...or at least should be.
The only exception of course is if changes to your scheduled meal relief times were made unilaterally by management in the form of executive action in which case the IR Framework should have been invoked.
and also confirming that the "as directed" part of the 318 no longer applies?
I think we've been through this before,"as directed" or "business requirements" have to be justifiable, they should be discussed with both the rep and the member affected and if no agreement can be reached, again the IR Framework should apply.
It isn't and never should be a license for management to do anything they want. :cuppa

Zx don't attempt to play games with me,i can't be arsed.
If you can explain to me how you can make your way through the agreed 6 step revision process and produce duties for the members to vote on without agreeing the position of the meal relief i might drag the delivery reps support guide out for you.
It's kind of difficult to build a duty without knowing when and where to put the meal relief.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
