Revision Question

Hi...our office is in the very early stages of planning a revision. What has been everyones experience of selecting/choosing a round? How do you get paired up on a van? Seniority or is the choice made for you ? Or indeed anything about it

The repick is done on seniority.
Two non drivers can't pick into a shared van duty.
(It is pointless picking a partner because your partner will have days off, holidays, days off sick - so get used to multiple partners.)

If you get the chance - pick a HCT duty.

Why HCT? What are the advantages? I'm hearing rumours that we won't be allowed to "pick". Hopefully thats alkl it is ;)

HCT duty generally means within walking distance from the office + and this is a major + it means you are doing your walk on your own. No SOB to slow you down and waste your day! Yes i have a years experience of someone wasting my day!!!

van share for me i get on fine with my partner. No pushing a great big heavy hct nice warm van to get into and a lwt to push. Even if your not fussed on your partner you are only with them until the next loop and then your on your own

I have a good mate who has agreed to do a van with me. But can the managers choose who you end up with?

I am interested on the views of going for a HCT.
On a round which I sometimes do a HCT has been included in the revision. The duty holder refuses to use it , on a H&S issue and makes the duty go over time.
On the same route one person uses the HCT and loves it, but hates using a LWT. I have tried both and I have issues with the HCT, it blocks the pavement, at points there are no pavements and some gradients are awkward. Bins are left out and cars are badly parked. An other factor is the office is in a mess, a new revision is on the cards although this has not been mentioned, there are out side factors now coming into play. I can see the advantages of a HCT, Georoute says it will work but in practice it does not. The delivery has been physically tested twice and both times it failed, that was before the use of the HCT.

If the duty is failing before the HCT then it will definitely fail once the HCT is introduced. It is stop start at every house, whereas if you've a bag on your back you have more flow.

Sounds like the answers are very time orientated amongst you. Things sound really tight :(

Though on the plus side you don't have dead walking to drop boxes, fiddling with dodgy locks or waiting on drivers.

I've been told my office will never go over to P&L, is this true that some offices will be left the way they are?

It is possible that some offices will have no P&L. It is unlikely we will ever have it in our office since we have no towns over 1 mile from the office. Our DO is in a small town and mostly rurals.
