sick leave -few questions

This will be my 3rd week off sick (ive had flu and a chest infection)
I have a sick note from the doc which runs out today. I still don't feel 100% in going back to work on deliveries so im trying to get one more weeks sick note.

Now cos its a holiday tomorrow and say the doc puts my 2nd sick note dated from the 2 jan, will RM see that as a day skipped out? (new yrs day)

Ive also been told by a mate not to go back to work til i feel 100% better as he once went back from sick leave not feeling completly better....then 2 days later he got worse again and was off,so RM saw that as a 2nd absence.

Ive not had sick leave for at least a year, so what can i expect from the dom when i go back cos 3 weeks is kinda a long time? =/

If the doc is happy that it's still the same illness that he initially issued the sick note for, he will backdate it, and it will still count as one absence.
Yes, a Stage 1 is the probable outcome, but nothing to worry over with your sick record

They are supposed to take each case on its merits so you may or may not get a stage 1.

A few years ago we were able to argue that swine flu be exempt from the Attendance Procedure.
I don't see anything in the OPG's "casenotes" to give his rep any chance of helping him avoid a stage 1.
Perhaps if his DOM is looking for a fight with his senior managers, he will refuse to issue the stage 1.........Perhaps.

A stage 1.

stage 1 is issued if you have 2 absences within a 6 month period,you just cant get issued a stage 1 for 1 absence in 12 months...........................

Not being controversial in any way but u must have a very nice doctor to give u a sick note for 4 weeks for flu and chest infection. That kind of time off is normally pneumonia or fractures etc. U will definately get a stage 1 as they are very unlikely to see extenuating circumstances with that and what extended time u have had off over our busiest time. That aside u may as well stay off as it will all count the same

No it isn't.
A stage one review is triggered if you have 4 absences or 14 days in a 12 month period.
A review is not the same as issued even if management believe it is,

Yes afraid so. One absence lasting I think 14 days, or four separate ones if they do not reach 14. In theory you can be put on a stage one for having four separate days off in 12 months, and they will.

Six months period is for trialists or stage 2+

They are supposed to take each case on its merits so you may or may not get a stage 1.

In 9/10 cases it's an automatic stage after a farcical 'review'. People in our DO (including me) that fall under the equalities act (and their illness IS related) get staged. There is no appeal, until you get the sack almost , only a grievance procedure.

I have to sit down when I climb the stairs and I feel as if Im having a heart attack., I got an inhaler from my gp yesterday which helps, Im on a stage 1 from a rta last Xmas so I'll receive a stage 2 for this.

If it's less than 12 months from the date you were issued a stage 1 you'll trigger a stage 2 review.
Whether it's issued or not will be partly down to how good a rep you have but mostly down to how poor a manager you have.
