Well I was on a firms delivery, worked to my time, 6-2 every day. now off for a week.

Given that he says he was on a firm's delivery, I doubt very much if the xmas pressure affected his duty.
Perhaps he worked 6 - 2 because he could do his duty in those contracted hours.
He isn't bragging about cutting off.
He wasn't a big brave boy who faced up to bullying managers.
He just went to work and did his job. Perhaps.
This idea now seems alien to a lot of people.

I'm a day off cover man and had to work my hours over Christmas, because of family commitments. On one occasion I had to bring back nigh on 3 trays of mail and 2 sacks of packets. Was I proud? No. I was treated to management slagging me off behind my back, to my fellow workers, and absolutely zero help whatsoever.

Some of us do just want to turn up do our time and go home. It's just a job at the end of the day.

And then i would take that further... It's also actually your workmates that slag you off as well.

I've had it (as a PT on 30 hours) when the previous duty holder announced (loudly) when i was collecting whilst the FT where still on IPS that I had a fuc***g easy duty.

I asked why he gave it up in the resign. Cue much laughter from others

I couldn't give a toss what my work colleagues think, but having management do it is woefully unprofessional. Wish I had lodged a grievance now, but I'd have no evidence so what's the point? The last two I issued against the same manager did fudge all anyway...
