Full Time Hours

I'm covering the longest walking duty in my office this coming week, its a 39 hour full time walk with a HCT. I'm on a part time contract which I don't mind as I will book any time I do over.

My question is, what is my start and finish time on a full time walk? no one seemed able to tell me when I finished on Saturday.

It depends on your office, some duties start at 6am, some at 6.30am etc. Unless you've been told what time you've to start then I would go in at my normal time and let them worry about the work.

In some offices if you cover a full-time duty - you will do the full-timer's hours.
In others, you will continue to work your part-time hours and they will cover the indoor part of the duty (indoor lapsing).
We can have no idea what is happening in your DO. It would depend on custom, traffic, holidays/sick and available skills.

They do that in my office also, what a bunch of idiots. I am last to arrive in my office and last to leave to start delivery. But, who cares, as long as I work my hours and get payed to do it, then I can finish when the cows come home for all I care.

It is shocking however, they way RM expect part-timers to work full-time hours when covering a full-time duty, basically your doing a full time job but as far as holidays and the bonus is concerned, well your pro-rata, staying on your part-time contract. It seems RM love screwing part-timers, which is why I refuse to work more than my contracted hours no matter what duty they put me on. I have been told I will be made surplus when the revision occurs in my office if I refuse to do the full hours of the duty I am covering, but if there not going to bump me up to a full-time contract, then screw them, why work full time hours and get none of the benefits that full-timer workers have. Maybe if all part-timers refused to work full-time hours RM would be forced to either offer them full-time contracts or seriously change the way they operate.

I am a part-time also going in as a full-time tomorrow, Monday. It is a 7.00am start and a finish time of 2.48pm. But I am sure when I arrive tomorrow, the real FT (with IPS duty) will have been in around 6.15am or before. Some are just used to the old start time and others just want to get done and gone...

My partner (FT) will probably be a little miffed as I come in later but there is no guarantee of going out early and I am very flexible - not in a rush to get home. He will however be pleased that I am doing my throwing out and starting at 7.00 instead of 8.15am. The revision thing and working as a pair has made things a little more complicated all round...

Spot on! Quite how an huge organisation is running with these obscene contracts is beyond me. It will crumble one day.

The sell off will change many things ... a 5 day week and part time workers increasing...all part of increased profit motivation from the top....

And increased pension contributions for less reward as the current trend for low annuity rates are proving...
