Reasons for failing revision?
Im trying to understand a little why our revision is not working and have a few ideas and also hope some may be added prior to a PIR meeting. Main problem on our delivery is attendance calls, even though we had a packet count this was ignored and the standard 20 for every 500 delivery points was used. This gives us around 48 calls whereas we have had 120 pre christmas. So 72 extra at 1 minute per call is way out for a start. Next up are gates included in georoute as we have plenty? Then we are constantly having to go off route to deliver specials by 1PM to people who are'nt even home, why cant the by 1pm be an option on posting for people who only need next day or the compensation offered by the special delivery?

Because the planners like to do that, especially if a proper count will not give them the right cuts to the budget.AnotherLimey wrote:Why were your packet counts ignored?

Re: Reasons for failing revision?
But why would you/cwu rep allow that to happen? the counts made a huge difference in our office.DGP1 wrote:Because the planners like to do that, especially if a proper count will not give them the right cuts to the budget.AnotherLimey wrote:Why were your packet counts ignored?

The rep said no...........the planners said that they don't care and they will do whatever they want....................which is why our revision is stalled againAnotherLimey wrote:But why would you/cwu rep allow that to happen? the counts made a huge difference in our office.DGP1 wrote:Because the planners like to do that, especially if a proper count will not give them the right cuts to the budget.AnotherLimey wrote:Why were your packet counts ignored?

Unfortunately our rep has been off with stress but we only recently found out the packet count hasn't been used.AnotherLimey wrote:But why would you/cwu rep allow that to happen? the counts made a huge difference in our office.DGP1 wrote:Because the planners like to do that, especially if a proper count will not give them the right cuts to the budget.AnotherLimey wrote:Why were your packet counts ignored?

Re: Reasons for failing revision?
Wasn't the 'standard' 20 put in the mix 2 maybe 3 years ago when these revisions started.
Tell them to f**k off, packets have risen dramatically since then..............hense the change in the way we work....err the revisions,50% or whatever it is of our income is now generated by said packets.
And like i said, tell them to f**k off and to get real!

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Outdoor Department Monthly E-Bulletin JUNE 2012
Q. Is there a standard number of what we call attendance calls built into delivery routes?
A. Yes they are as follows
• 17 per 500 Delivery Points for walking and cycle (4 of the 17 deemed unsuccessful)
• 18 per 500 Delivery Points for HCT (4 deemed unsuccessful)
• 20 per 500 Delivery Points for Van / Shared van (5 deemed unsuccessful)
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

Re: Reasons for failing revision?
Members accept revisions if it does not cost jobs , they also continue to come in early and skip meal breaks despite knowing doing this provides ammunition for RM to implement changes next year . Well done those who can battle change and succeed but unfortunately many DO just can't be bothered.

Re: Reasons for failing revision?
I put alot of it down to lack of knowledge by planners and managers on how deliveries have changed. Alot of these have not done deliveries for maybe ten or more years. They have changed beyond recognition since then. not enough time for shared van routes to do large packets/specials etc. oh and georoute is not fit for purpose as well. Just put 2 of our old bike duties together and that should be ok for a shared van we all said but planners/managers thought otherwise so added 150 calls on and it's now a disaster.

well you know what to do tell them if that is the figure they are quoting then tell them that is what you are taking and leave the rest that is what I would do and say to the manager/planner
