Delivery Under Pressure - Bullying and Harassment

Post by TrueBlueTerrier »

Letter to Branches

No. 952/12
Ref: 230.03
Date:21st December 2012

To: Branches with POSTAL Members

Dear Colleague,

Delivery Under Pressure - Bullying and Harassment

Further to LTB 910/12 Branches will wish to know that the Bullying and Harassment was raised by the CWU at the ‘Summit’ meeting with Royal Mail on Monday 17th January 2012.

It was explained that we have had over 700 responses to this serious situation and that we are still receiving reports via the insert, letters, emails and phone calls.

To take this matter forward we informed Royal Mail that we will be carrying out an analysis of the documentation and will present our findings to them in the New Year and also discuss a way forward from a national point of view. We do not want a piecemeal approach we are looking for a nationwide resolution.

The possibility of a meeting this week was also discussed but due to various other commitments this did not take place.

The Union is aware of the anxieties of our members affected by this and please rest assured that we are doing what we can to bring this to an end as soon as possible. Further updates will be circulated in due course.

Any enquiries to Bob Gibson’s Office, quoting reference 230.03.
Email address: hnutley@cwu.org

Yours sincerely

Bob Gibson

That's a manipulation of statistics freddy.
First of all the figure for frontline staff is around 160,000.
Secondly it's only aimed at delivery.
Thirdly it's only aimed at union members in delivery.
It relies on you opening your copy of the voice and finding the survey.
It relies on members having the courage to fill the survey in.
It relies on members having faith in the union's ability to do something about it.
Considering the many and varied reasons NOT to make a complaint, including genuine fear of management retribution and good old "just can't be arsed".....the number of responses is quite staggering.

You only need to look at how many bother to vote in NEC and PEC elections to understand that statistic.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

Is that how much they are offering you as a settlement?
Nice work ........... :Very Happy
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

I agree with all you say fishtank.... one complaint of this nature is one too many and b&h behaviour should be erradicated completely....

there have been a lot of complainants in my office and hopefully this will be picked up and put the management in my office firmly in the spotlight as more frequently now their attitudes and behaviour are completely disgraceful and un-professional.... it's like working for a bunch of thugs...

Im afraid this is all to common in most delivery offices, im 100% sure that RM head office in London know all about it. All levels of managers are protected until they really really cock up regarding managing staff. Sad but true.
