Is the CWU just a gravy train for those at the top,?

Who does this union help apart from Royal Mail. Royal Mail managers are nothing but bullies and have been getting away with it for years. It's about time this union done something about it. I'm sure everyone on here know someone that has been bullied or sacked by Royal Mail managers! What does this union do Pay lip service of course. It's time once and for all to get shot of Royal Mail managers who bully the work force. But it will never happen! the people at the head of this union are to busy onboard the gravy train. Just ask those members who have been unfairly sacked by lies and more lies from rm managers!

No the CWU Leadership is not in Royal Mail's pocket , they support Indivduals who have been or are being bullied every single day and done for decades. You might only hear the high profile ones like Burslem but they do it in a number of ways , it cases , representation , supporting a ballot and dispute , taking legal action against Royal Mail , meetings with management to stop it in those offices where it has been raised to their level , telling divisional reps or Branch's to assist with the casess , helping out financially if an indivdual who has been bullied is off work , supplying counselling.

I have to say if you got your way in negotiations simply by shouting and screaming the CWU would have got their way. Those who know Bob and Dave will know they both have a short fuse as crozier found out to his cost a few years back . But it is not about screaming its about forcing through thr power of your arguments and the threat of what could happen by the members.

The problem is that some members clearly have been suffering in silence from bullying management they were either to scared or not aware they could complain until yes CWU headquarters wrote to all members asking them.

My other concern is why was the office where it is happening not making it a issue by standing together and why is thr branch not helping them.

You see the union is not just those in CWU HQs it's as important that you stand together in an office even if it's walking into the canteen demanding a senior CWU rep and senior management attend to hear what your suffering.

Happened earlier in the Watford area. Don't suffer in silence , if you know Indivduals are being bullied call someone , organise , don't just blame the CWU without alerting them first of what is happening and give them the opportunity first of stopping it.

Before the usual suspects come on here and saying I am blaming the members , well I am blaming the branch for not helping first and foremost they should be in regular contact with every office and know exactly what is happening in their area.

My experience is that the union will do everything possible to support you through bullying from Royal Mail Managers . I personally would not be without my union rep because without him my own bullying and lying manager would have got away with murder by now - Managers hate it when their bullying is exposed to all, but Royal Mail seem to be breeding and encouraging this behavour. Without the union none of us are safe from it, at least with them behind us we stand a chance of fighting it.

Don't start me off about ITs.the union pulled the plug on mine even after the solicitor said I could win it but for one small point it was outside the time scale Why I hear you ask well my branch was suspended by the powers that be on the back of a pile of lies from muppets and power hungry clowns in my branch. Someone from cwu hq was sent over to run the branch and did a few days a week.you could only get to see him on a Tuesday so I made an appointment to see him first time he never turned up. Second time I got him and filled out the IT forms he was to send them off but guess what weeks went by and I heard nothing so I tried ringing him to find out the score no ans on his phone but when I did get him he couldn't remember what he done with them.So I had to fill them in again but this time I took em to the IT office. Because of having the branch suspended with no branch officers and this man running things when he bothered to turn up my IT was over the time. Could I afford to go on with it after the union pulled out No I couldn't. I know many postmen that where in the same boat as me. I find it hard to understand how Royal Mail can tell lies make up story's then sack workers and get away with it. I'm glad u know of how the union helped workers being bullied and with there IT and even helped with money ,that's news to me but then some people think the moon is made of cheese. Those people who tell about rm bullies and try to do something about it alway end up on jumped up charges after a while then it's bye bye.

our outgoing union rep helped initiate a regime of institutionalised bullying where he did nothing and watched it happen , he was not a delivery man but a desk jockey whose main jobs where holidays rota for staff making the dom a cuppa the occasional time in the cage ,chats and laughs with the line managers, and being good at hide and seek ,you could never find him when you needed to talk not that he was ever helpful . he was never voted in because no one ever stood against him and it was never really advertised when election time came round

the answer to your question is yes - for those at the top who are now so far removed from the membership it would be laughable if it wasn't so tragic
