privitisation/park and loop

Since park and loop has been implemented i have noticed overtime going through the roof in places they have got people to undertake voluntary reduncies and now seem to be struggling to cope staff wise, I thought the whole idea was to save money? is this the same in everyone elses offices??

secondly when privitisation does and if it kicks in, iam guessin they will want to cut down costs so the whole park and loop and overtime going through the roof??

seems all abit backwards to myself?? any thoughts?

i heard some where that if privitisation come altlest 25% jobs gone definatly to save money and may be 39 hours staff come down to 34 hours. :dcfo

Someone is spinning a line to you.

We don't know who is going to buy us yet. It could be a mixture of management buy out, public share issue and a company purchase, or it could be just one of those.

Therefore if we and the governemnt don't know (or least have not made public) then no one is going to know whats going to happen when we are privatised, its all guess work and fortune telling and about as useful as well.

I agree. The cost of running p$l i.e van tax, insurance, mot and maintenance plus all the overtime is staggering. Im sure if we are privatized we'll be back on the bikes!

I was under the impression that P & L was brought in to accomodate the use of trolly's.

The trolly's were brought in due to health & safety regulations ie: loads of people claiming compo from RM regarding bad backs etc...

I might well be wrong,but i would say that Park & Loop is here to stay.

I think the trolleys are here to stay (and thank God for that) but the two posties to a van is such a wasteful delivery method and nobody appears to like it.
One postie - one High Capacity Trolley (MK 2), with proper vans to ensure conveyance out and back would work a lot better.
The conveyance driver would then be responsable for large packets etc which don't fit in the trolleys.

HCT's have huge terrain limitations,high maintenance costs and transferring them to and from vehicles should be avoided if possible because it's a high accident risk.
I don't think they are the solution either.

I understand the terrain limitations.
The maintenance costs would be reduced if you didn't buy tat in the first place.
And transferring them to and from vehicles wouldn't be a high accident risk if you had a proper tail lift on the transporting vehicle.

The reason for park and loop failing, is that the walks are too big when its busy and too small when its light. Royal mail needs to manage the flow of mail and packets better *god knows how* so that some of the mail we get on heavier days is distributed over the lighter days.
But tbh i enjoy the job a lot more now with the van sharing. I used to hate lugging bundles of mail out of post boxes and other bag drops

wat????? to small when its light???????? !!!! somebody started the xmas spirit early i see , when its the lightest day of the week we still not get done as the jobs are just stupid big. its the stopping and starting constantly that eats into the delivery time. park and loop will never work, only if they make the jobs half the size which they will never do!

Instead of LWT or HCTs why don't we us something like.......a bike, with a tray of the front for your bag, then maybe we could have boxes around the route to collect extra bags as we need them, maybe use a bigger van to deliver all the bulky packets...........just a thought mind you

Why would you need a vehicle to transport HCTs? They are only supposed to be used within 1 mile of the depot anything over that is a P&L according to the agreement.
