Broken mirror

Quicky.....got hire van, last vehicle left for me.Its got a damaged wing mirror, so reversing was very "interesting". I used it as I didnt want the hassle at that time, stupidly.
I can refuse to use it next time , but others have used it for weeks...so Ill be seen as rocking the boat/trouble making.
Any "best" way to resolve this, at our busiest time?

been there, two options, keep quiet and hope you do not have an accident because of the damaged wing mirror, which YOU will be blamed for. It would fail an MOT therefore not safe to use, Do not use it and state why. You are not "rocking the boat/trouble making" , no matter you says you are, YOU are not.

What do you think would happen if you reversed over someone and killed them, the fact you knew the mirror was damaged would lead you to a charge of man slaughter. Royal Mail would wash their hands and rightly so. Get a grip and put the van of the road.

I think the answer depends on 2 things.

Which mirror is damaged and is the cargo compartment a sealed one or can you see through the internal mirror to the rear window.

If its the offside mirror then IIRC you shouldn't be driving it.

If its the onside but you have an internal rear view mirror and can see to the rear safely then its okay to drive.

I think, but I am look for links - that all car sized vehicles should have 2 of the 3 mirrors available for use. Thats is 2 outside, or 1 drivers side and 1 internal, but it cant be 1 onside and 1 internal.

Van checks..van checks van check! Thats before you use the vehicle. Then input any damage in the log book and inform your manager!

Quickly......kick the offside wing mirror off the door and tell the DOM it's broke

Van is Hire vehicle, only 2 mirrors, one damaged badly/unusable.
Thanks...Think I'll be rfusing to use it on grounds that it would fail an MOT.
