Days off over the pressure period....
My Manager has informed me that I can't take my normal days off over the pressure & I have to take what is given to me. My days off were Friday this week (14th Dec) & my long weekend falls just before Christmas (Sat 22nd & Mon 24th) I had it out with him & he said I would have to take the 'random days' off he gives me or he will put me down as going AWOL if I don't come into work on the above days. Can he do this?

yes is the short answer as he will have given you notice prior to it happening, however, just tell him that you have organized to go away over your long weekend and he might decide that he can't stop you.

if its the walks long weekend due saturday & xmas eve you take it

I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The reason he gave was that he didn't have enough staff to cover days off & therefore chances are he couldn't get it covered. He threatened me with a move to the Mail Centre if I didn't work my days off (which I swiftly agreed to - way more cushier than my walk!) but funnily enough backed down and kept me on my duty when I did!POSTMAN wrote:The answer 'within reason' is bollox he can't.
