Part timers getting duties.

Hi our revision is underway and we have been told that a full timer will pair up with a part timer.This means a p/t postie who has a years service will get a duty over someone who has been there twenty years,doesn't seem right to me.

It's also a crap deal for a new p/t. They will end up doing most of the work. Most of the 20yr+ guys I have worked with are experts at doing as little as possible.

It's wrong on so many things,never mind part timers getting duties,which if its any thing like our D.O means the part timers will only get the walking duties which means delivering more D2D's than the full timers and getting paid less for it,and trying to explain that you need boots/trainers more often than the specified time.

That's strange, most p/timers I have worked with are experts at doing as little as possible!

Well I would gladly give up my permanent round, to have a 39 hour contract. Been stuck on 30 hrs for 6 years now and have just been told its very likely I'll never get 39hr contract.

Yeah, all the problems with the job are down to those lousy part timers.

Even if part timers make up 30% of the workforce, that still leaves 70% that are full time, who happily act like turkey's voting for Christmas, but it's all right, they've got a ready made scapegoat to hand.

Im not slagging part timers off,in our office they work as hard as full time staff,more the seniority issue for me.Im crossing my fingers I keep my duty with 20 years in but you never know.
