pretty much i think. yes. or draw it out of a hat! seriously is there any point in a xmas eve/new year collection? i wont be doing it and yes ill be putting in a B&H against him if so. 100%

totally hacked off now. management came round today asking people about collections and SA's. they are struggling to cover them on xmas eve and new years eve. everyone including myself have all said no. now management have kicked off and said if no one will volunteer then they will make them into duties and someone who is on these 25 hour contracts with no set start or finish time will be put on it. its a total joke. the 2 days where the majority of the country spend time with their family to celebrate and RM dont give a rats backside and are quite happy to piss all over it without a second thought. people have plans to go away to visit family and friends. some quite a considerable distance away. we only get the one day off for god sake and then its back to work!

i for one wont be doing it even if its a duty. RM can stick it.

I can see that happening on xmas eve. Its a slightly longer day in hours than a tuesday. I'm told the MC's are working all weekend. DO's are likely to get hammered. Some will see a phone call an easier option than having to inform them you won't be completing that day!

Quality time with my family is far more important than being kicked in the nuts by Royal Mail on xmas eve, now our Saturdays are completely ruined, this is a big issue for a good many employees.
If bosses refuse us a decent work/life balance, then it's up to ourselves to try and remedy that, as best we can.
We are not slaves to be treated as abysmally as Royal Mail does.

We don't have any SAs on the eves. The collections are done by the late shift collections drivers who start earlier because the collections are done based on saturday timings.

I do my fair share of sa's and collections as overtime and cancel plans to help out now and then. Won't be doing it anymore if they take the piss anymore...
